I believe that pregnancy is a normal part of a woman's life and should be treated as such.  Pregnancy and birth should be treated as normal events unless complications arise.  I support wholistic care in the childbearing year through quality nutrition, nurturing herbs, bodywork, and most important providing information that allows families to make their own informed decisions.

Together we will formulate a birth plan that includes all your wishes for your birthing experience.  Whether birthing at home, in the hospital, or a birthing center, this allows all those involved to be aware of and respect your birthing decisions. My goal is to empower women and their families to make safe, healthy, and informed decisions throughout the childbearing year.

As your birth doula, I will meet with you and anyone else you would like involved in your labor support (spouse, partner, family, friends, etc.)  We will work together to make your birth plan, which is an outline of the decisions you have made about your birthing experience.  We will discuss any questions, concerns, or fears you have about childbirth and becoming a mother, or mothering multiple children.
 

Topics covered can include
* proper nutrition during pregnancy and nursing
* herbs that nourish the body during pregnancy
* herbs, homeopathics & flower essences that aid in the transitions

   of pregnancy and childbirth
* beneficial positioning for labor and delivery
* relaxation techniques
* healing  from a disappointing birth experience
* pain management techniques
* patients rights in a hospital setting
* infant care choices
* breastfeeding support
* and much, much more.

We will meet 3-4 times for prenatal visits.  I will be available for your entire birth, from the beginning of labor until a few hours after delivery, or as needed.  I will remain on-call (available 24 hours a day) for you two weeks before and two weeks after your due date.  We will meet again 2-3 times after your birth, as a follow up to support you in your transition.
 

Cost of birth doula services is $300.  Sliding scale available for those who
qualify.  Hourly rate for care outside the doula birth package is $15.00.
